What is cozy fantasy?

Do you love escaping into worlds of magic and fantasy? Do you enjoy quirky characters, light world-building, low stakes and ridiculous romps?

If you answered yes to any of those things, then cozy fantasy is for you.

Cozy fantasy often features romance (of varying spice levels). There is no assault, torture, or violence. These are feel-good stories with low dread, or a glossing over of high dread, in a fantasy setting. There's a focus on slice-of-life, and finding that precious. The good guys win, or there is a heavy emphasis on doing the right thing. There is usually a heavy focus on characters and their growth. You will end the story feeling positive and comforted.

If you love Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldtree, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna, Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match by Sally Thorne, or Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater, then you'll enjoy the cozy Victorian romantasy books by Belinda Kroll.

Jane Austen-lite vocabulary + modern sass.
