About Belinda Kroll

Belinda Kroll writes and illustrates cozy fantasy romances where Jane Austen vocabulary meets modern sass—and he always falls first. Her stories blend humor, heart, and a touch of the supernatural, inviting readers to escape into a historical world of charming suitors, reluctant heroines, and a touch of magic.
A lifelong lover of historical fiction and romantic comedy, Belinda believes everyone contains multitudes—and that Austen-style storytelling is the perfect stage for interracial love stories celebrating wit and warmth.
When she isn’t writing or illustrating, Belinda is probably shopping for new eyeglasses, binging K-dramas, or dancing the lindy hop. She lives in Ohio with her family, cat, and increasing collection of Sailor Moon memorabilia.

Belinda's indie author journey
Reclaiming the creative soul
2003
First foray
My high school senior thesis culminated with the publication of Catching the Rose via Aventine Press. Learned I didn't know a lot about a lot, like marketing, and editing, and cover design. I got a dedicated interview slot on my local news station!
2010
Bright Bird Press
Celebrating our first step into true indie publishing by creating the Bright Bird Press imprint and publishing Haunting Miss Trentwood through Smashwords, AuthorsRepublic, and CreateSpace (now Amazon KDP).
This is also the era of my Etsy store, where I combined my love of bullet journaling with my love of writing. Thus, the Bright Bird Press stationery collection was created.
2021
Beginning anew
After winning the 2017 international Self-Publishing Review award for The Last April, I realized I wanted fantasy in my historical stories.
And then I saw Hanna Sandvig and Ireen Chau illustrating their own books! I ran to my nearest art store to brush up my skills. Four years of formal drawing classes in high school surely couldn't be for nothing!
