About Belinda Kroll

Belinda Kroll writes and illustrates cozy fantasy romance, where Jane Austen vocabulary meets modern sass. She is obsessed with eyeglasses, Korean dramas, home renovation shows, and dancing the lindy hop. She pets every dog that lets her, though she's quickly becoming a crazy cat lady. She lives with her family in Ohio.

Check out her Writer's Productivity set, a series of bullet journal-inspired journals at Bright Bird Press.

Belinda's indie author journey

Reclaiming the creative soul

Catching the Rose (paperback) signed - Belinda Kroll

2003

First foray

My high school senior thesis culminated with the publication of Catching the Rose via Aventine Press. Learned I didn't know a lot about a lot, like marketing, and editing, and cover design. I got a dedicated interview slot on my local news station!

Undated All - in - One Novel Planner (A5 Floral Black & White) - Belinda Kroll

2010

Bright Bird Press

Celebrating our first step into true indie publishing by creating the Bright Bird Press imprint and publishing Haunting Miss Trentwood through Smashwords, AuthorsRepublic, and CreateSpace (now Amazon KDP).

This is also the era of my Etsy store, where I combined my love of bullet journaling with my love of writing. Thus, the Bright Bird Press stationery collection was created.

2021

Beginning anew

After winning the 2017 international Self-Publishing Review award for The Last April, I realized I wanted fantasy in my historical stories.

And then I saw Hanna Sandvig and Ireen Chau illustrating their own books! I ran to my nearest art store to brush up my skills. Four years of formal drawing classes in high school surely couldn't be for nothing!
