Belinda Kroll is the historical fiction pseudonym of Binaebi Akah. The name was chosen because I figured my real name didn’t scream young adult Victorian fiction set in England and the United States.

I combine my nerd-love of Victorian history with my passion for storytelling in my young adult fiction, i.e. novels set between 1837 and 1901. I write about the humble hero, the spunky heroine, and a fun historical plot with quirky twists. Above all, I hope my writing entertains you and provides an escape. My short stories and poetry delve into contemporary magical realism and absurdity.

It was in my masters program where I realized the power of the nerd. My nerd made me interesting and fun. My nerd gave me a passion and a voice to speak about it. My nerd gets excited with other nerds about their nerdy passions like dance technique, historical facts, the craft of fiction, food adventures, and more. My nerd wants to meet your nerd so we can nerd out together.

John Green says it best:

…Nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff… Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can’t-control-yourself love it. Hank, when people call people nerds, mostly what they’re saying is ‘you like stuff.’ Which is just not a good insult at all. Like, ‘you are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness’.
